Julia Says…

“I am running for school trustee for a 4th term because I want to make sure that every child in our care has the supports necessary to reach their full potential.  I am a trustee that is collaborative, committed and caring, and, I want to ensure that the future Board makes fundamental choices necessary to reflect the educational priorities of our region.   Over the past 11 years, I have proven to be an effective advocate and steward by making vital and difficult decisions within our budget constraints; balancing the Budget is the cornerstone of  trustee stewardship.  All of my decisions are “student centered” and evidence based.

Trustee Group Dec 2011

SD23 Board of Education 2011

I have assisted in providing the school district with the appropriate oversight, planning, and management of the  available resources to successfully achieve the district’s strategic  goals.  I have also developed an aptitude and passion for being the voice of our community.

As a wife, mother and business woman, I bring experience in governance, volunteerism, and business to the Board table to discuss recommendations by staff on Finance, Education, Planning, and HR.

With this valuable experience, it is my desire to continue as a steward and an advocate for public education.

I respectfully ask for your support in my bid for re-election.

Julia’s VISION:

My vision for the upcoming 4 year term is to keep focus on the School District’s current strategic plan, particularly around our collective commitments to reconcili-action, to provide positive school experiences and increase meaningful graduation outcomes for all students, especially Indigenous students and students from equity-seeking groups.  With the teamwork of the Senior Administration, and suggestions from our Partner Groups, it’s my goal to continue offering engaging, valuable and meaningful discourse at our Board meetings, as well as Trustees together to jointly advocate to all levels of government on issues affecting our School District.
