Presenter: Susan Kootnekoff, Parent
Ms. Kootnekoff’s presentation to the Board of Education requested the Board of Education review and
change the wording in Policy 470 – Transportation Services Management and apply the same criteria to
both French and English students, and that the Board provide parents of affected French Immersion
students with their child’s bus routes and drop off and pick up times and locations as soon as possible and by no later than December 1, 2021.

- As Interior Health has recommended moving to remote learning for Mar Jok Elementary School in West

The Board Chair, Trustees and the Superintendent of Schools/CEO spoke of the following:
In honour of Remembrance Day, Trustees and senior staff participated in virtual Remembrance Day
Ceremonies and at the opening ceremony of the Field of Crosses commemorating Kelowna’s members
of the Canadian Armed Forces.
The Superintendent of Schools/CEO attended the Kelowna Chamber of Commerce Speaker Series
Luncheon introducing the new faces on campus at Okanagan College – Neil Fassina, President, and at
the University of British Columbia Okanagan – Lesley Cormack, Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Principal.
Trustees and senior staff participated in the Kelowna Pride Festival and expressed appreciation to
Assistant Superintendent Raquel Steen for her organization of the booth, and also to the many other staff
and student volunteers
Trustees and senior staff recently visited the Land Based Learning Academy for Indigenous Middle
School Students situated at Okanagan Mission Secondary School.
