1. School District No. 23 (Central Okanagan) 2013/2014 Budget Development Timeline
The Board of Education approved the School District No. 23 (Central Okanagan) 2013/2014 Budget Development Timeline.
2. Budget Development Process
The Board agreed that when reviews for programs, initiatives, and support structures and services come forward, to the best of the Finance Department’s ability, a break out of funding costs will be
included in each program review and then incorporated into the budget report for the next year.
3. Capital Projects Bylaw No. 116447 – Approved Bus Project (new)
The Board of Education gave first, second and third readings and approved School District No. 23 Capital Project Bylaw No. 116447 – Approved Bus Project, in the amount of $135,131.00.
4. Capital Projects Bylaw No. 116459 – Approved Bus Project (replacement)
The Board of Education gave first, second and third readings and approved School District No. 23 Capital Project Bylaw No. 116459 – Approved Bus Project, in the amount of $270,262.00.
5. Draft Long-Term Facility Plan
The Board of Education received and approved the Long-Term Facility Plan.

The following items were reviewed by the Board:
1. Superintendent’s Emergent Items:
- a.The Central Okanagan School District will be hosting the Summit for Early Literacy Leaders: “When Vulnerable Readers Thrive – Dreams Come True” on January 31 and February 1, 2013. This conference will feature renowned speakers and will bring together early childhood educators from around the province.
- b. The District will be forming an Assessment Policy Development Committee to begin the work on developing an Assessment Policy. This working committee will include Trustee representation, students, parents, teachers and Principals/Vice-Principals.
- c.The Ministry recently shared a new Skills and Training Plan with the focus to increase the number of graduates that pursue trades by 50% in order to meet the growing demand for trades people in our society.
- d. The Superintendent congratulated the newly-elected Chairperson Baxter and Vice-Chairpersons Butler and Fraser, as well as thanking former Chairperson Cacchioni for his service over the past year, along with the efforts of former Vice-Chairs Baxter and Gorman.
2. Superintendent’s Mid-Year Report on Student Achievement 2012-2013
The Superintendent provided a mid-year report on Student Achievement as a DRAFT document which will be further discussed at the January 16, 2013 Public Board meeting.

4. CUPE Local 3523 Executive – November 2012 to November 2013
The Board received from CUPE the names of the 2013 local CUPE 3523 Executive.
5. Aboriginal Education Program 9th Annual Report, September 2011 – June 2012
The annual report was received by the Board of Education. The Aboriginal Education Council will refer to the information within this report during the development of the District’s second five-year Enhancement Agreement.
